How do I cite sources with no page numbers?
Last Updated: Jul 02, 2025    Views: 4

In order to cite a resource without page numbers, you will first need to determine which citation style you are using, such as APA or MLA.

APA

In APA, you can simply omit page numbers from the in-text citation if you are summarizing the information. If you are using a direct quotation, however, you will need to provide another way of locating the quotation. This might mean using a heading or section name, paragraph number, or both: (Smith, 2025, Methods section, para. 3).

For the full entry on the References page, you can simply omit the page numbers.

MLA

In MLA, you can simply omit the page numbers from both your in-text citations (Smith) as well as from the full entry on the Works Cited page.
