How do I search for a library book by call number?

You can search for a call number using the library's online catalog.

  1. At the top of the catalog, click "Browse."
  2. In the yellow drop-down, select "Browse by LC Call Number."
  3. Enter the first few segments of your call number, such as: PR2754
  4. Click the magnifying glass icon to search.

If there are many books in the section, you may want to enter the next segment of your call number (such as: PR2754.P76) to jump to that section. Inserting the entire call number may also work, but if it doesn't appear at the top of the page, click the "Go to previous page" button in the bottom right to see if it's on the bottom of the previous page.

Please note that call numbers are generally only applied to print materials. Some eBooks may have call numbers, but they may not appear in this list. Articles and other online resources usually don't have call numbers.

If you are looking for the book on the shelf, click the title to see which collection it is in. Reserve books and audiovisual material should be requested at the staff desk. Circulating, display, and reference collections are each in a separate area of the IWV library.
