I'm having trouble getting an internet connection with my hotspot. What should I do?

Answer

Unfortunately, the library is not equipped to troubleshoot your hotspot. Please follow the tips below and if nothing works, skip down to #7 and reach out to Kajeet directly. Hotspots are very popular and we usually do not have any available to swap out.

  1. To connect your device, follow the instructions on the QuickStart guide included with your device. No guide? Go to kajeet.net/support and scroll down to “Kajeet SmartSpot Guides” to find your device.
  2. Ensure your device is fully charged. Note that some devices need to be powered off to charge.
  3. Ensure your device is showing at least 3 bars of cell service. Lower than 3 bars will not connect. Hotspots are dependent on cell service signals. If you are in a place that has poor reception (hotspots use either a T-Mobile or Verizon network), relocate to an area that has better reception.
  4. Ensure the hotspot is near a window so that it gets as unobstructed a connection as possible.
  5. You may also need to check to see if your device is active in Kajeet by going to kajeet.com/status and entering the barcode number of your device.
  6. Still not connecting? Power off all associated devices (hotspot, laptop, smartphone, etc) completely and re-start. Then try the QuickStart instructions again.
  7. Still not connecting? Go to kajeet.net/support and use one of their service and support options such as live chat, filing a ticket using the form, or calling them at 877-352-5338.
